Airbrushing and skin smoothing
You probably have a sneaking suspicion that models who feature in glossy magazines like Cosmopolitan or Glamour don’t actually look like that at 7am in the morning - in fact they don’t look like that after hours in make-up.
The secret ingredient is digital airbrushing - using computer software to remove spots, wrinkles and blemishes and in many cases change body shape (usually thinner and taller) to make the model look perfect.
Although there is literally nothing that can’t be done to digitally alter an image, we think that airbrushing needs to be subtly applied to look convincing by enhancing your best features and remove any little bulges or blemishes.
So who benefits from airbrushing? This depends on age, body type and style of portrait required. FHM lads mag style glamour portraits can be quite unforgiving even for young women with great bodies and blemish free skin - so if its an brightly lit glamour style shoot your after we recommend getting your favourite shots airbrushed up (all the glamour portraits on the Peachfur website have been airbrushed).
If your preference is for a low key lighting composition, a technique primarily for accentuating the contours of your body while keeping many areas in shadow, there may be less of an obvious need for airbrushing the image. Having said that airbrushing isn’t just about removing blemishes and bulges, it’s also about the presentation of the overall image by enhancing the background, colour balance, and composition.
